Sean Landers

Sean Landers an American contemporary artist known for his use of text and humour in painting, film, and sculpture. most of his work comes from his personal writing. His writing is a weird combination of fact and fiction, reality and fantasy, sincerity and insincerity, but this is mainly his starting point. he writes what he wants, what he feels at that specific point in time, and goes with it, even though these are starting points he displays them as pieces because they are a creation of his thought process. the reason I started looking at Sean is due to all the beautifully handwritten pieces and how it relates to the letter I wrote for my grandma, as it expresses what you really wanna say and what you want to remember, so give a personal feel to the work which is created from it.

Erica Baum

Erica Baum is captivated by the printed word. She finds these through discovering different newspaper clippings, vintage paperbacks, she explores and discovers unexpected poetry in the language that comes from everyday life. She uses these pieces in an almost scientific way, to create discrete but parallel series of images. She shows these in close-up shots and with a clear thick boarder. Baum suggests these are a safe space in which viewers can decipher the images according to their own experiences and memories. her work made me think of how I wanted the viewer to understand my work. For example, people who have suffered with dementia or with someone who has dementia they would understand my work and base it off there own personal experience.
