MY ABSTRACT PAINTING
MY ABSTRACT PAINTING
For my traditional skill, I explained I wanted to try some abstract painting, and I thought I would track my progress. I hade an old canvas approximately 100cm x 100cm which was an old piece of artwork that I no longer like so decided it was a nice size to experiment with. I wanted some sort of starting point so drew an outline of an MRI scan that I found with one side being a normal brain (right side) and the other side being the dementia brain (left side).
I feel like a made a mistake when I first started as I had never worked with oil paint and thought it would be a good addition to my transitional skills, but I started with black and instantly regretted it as I initially wanted to make a brighter piece. I didn't let this defeat me as I continued to add more colours to the middle of it which brought a brighter feel to the painting.
I then wanted to really get rid of the black as much as possible and got recommended to add pink which i feel really helped. I continued to mix oranges and greens and purples to vary the colour palette.
For the next session, I spent time on my painting to finish covering the rest canvas in paint and again tried to erase as much of the black in it as possible, I found reds and pick to be the best colours to disguise the darker colours.
