THE LOVE LETTER

In looking for objects of my grandmas for the bookcase theory sculpture, I came across a love letter my grandad wrote my grandma when they broke up for a short period of time. This was an incredibly important letter as I remember my grandma said it was the reason she went back to him, no surprise she kept it.

As I'm moving forward with photography I wanted to show how important this letter was to their relationship so experimented with their wedding picture and another beautiful picture of them both.

I wanted to also show the difference in my grandma throughout their relationship so found a picture was taken of her around the time the letter was written and a recent picture of her. By placing the letter over this edited image shows the extent to what the love letter did and how it lasted forever. I specifically wanted to focus on the introduction to the letter 'My Dear Grace' and the signing off 'All my love, Ron' as it resembles the beginning and the end of their relationship, which ended with love.

The letter was written on both sides of the piece of paper so I scanned it in and placed it underneath so you can see the whole letter. I liked the length of this letter and placed three photos underneath going from young to middle-aged to old, to again show the how they have changed and grown through their relationship but still as close as ever. I love the beautiful penmanship by grandad had and the effort he put into this.
