PAINTING IDEA
As part of my Transitional Skills module, we have to advance our level of skills, that could be in any area, whether that be an artistic skill or academic. I've decided to start experimenting with a few different ones, I am a multi-media artist anyway so picking up a new skill is something I have done before. For this module, I've decided to pick up three different skill, the first one being painting, which is a skill I used years ago and neglected. The second one being Photography, which is a skill I know a little about but never related or used it in my practice, so is a new skill to add to my portfolio. Third, being in my academic writing is to improve on a skill I have but one which is not very good, which is critical analysis.

On this page, I'm going to look into the painting skill. A lot of my previous work was creating realistic paintings, but as part of making a new skill I was to experiment with abstract paintings, main reason being is I want to do paintings of MRI scans of the brain, but don't want it to be as literal as seeing a brain, so I want to look into all the different way I can use colour to reveal a meaning behind the work without being literal in the execution.
Researching the Colour Wheel
The colours that are opposite each other are complementary colours, which would work well together in a satisfactory piece, and work best together in vibrant tones. These colours don't work well together in text form.
The colours that are next to each other are complementary colours, which would work well together they usually match well and create serene and comfortable designs. These are colours usually found in nature together.
